Andrew Morrill

Andrew believes that it is a teacher’s obligation to “create excellence in teaching;…inspire excellence in learning; and…work toward the promise of quality education for the students in neighboring classrooms, neighboring schools, and future years.” He not only demands excellence from his own students, but also has worked on behalf of his district to help ensure a quality education for every student in the Marana Unified School District where he has taught High School English and related courses for 13 years. Andrew strives to challenge his students; he also strives to transfer “passion and desire for expansion” to his students. He vows as his duty to “break through the layers of doubt, disconnection, and even comfort—sometimes with probing questions and sometimes with the jaws of life—to open a student’s mind, heart, and hand. All three lead a student to connection with a given lesson, a given subject; indeed, with the world.” Andrew was named “Marana Unified School District Ambassador of Excellence” in 2000-2001, and has been one of the “Top 10 Most Inspirational Teachers” in his district every year since 1996. Andrew received his B. A. in English and his Post-Baccalaureate in Secondary Education from the University of Arizona where he is currently pursuing his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership.
