I praise. I admonish. I remind students constantly
that they are our nations brightest generation and I
invite them to act like it. They do." So states the Arizona
Educational Foundations 2001 Teacher of the Year, Mr.
John Mulcahy. Since the beginning of his teaching career in
high school Agriculture, John has centered his classroom,
his curriculum and his outcomes around his students. By making
each student a stakeholder in his or her own success, John
instills the belief that all students can learn and that all
students can teach one another. His commitment to the successful
education of all students in Arizona makes him an ideal spokesperson
for the teaching profession. John has been teaching Agriculture
at Peoria High School since 1983; he earned his B. S. Degree
in Agricultural Education from the University of Wisconsin,
his M.S. in Agricultural Education from the University of
Arizona and has since continued with post-graduate courses
at the three Arizona Universities. John was named "Black
Canyon District Agriculture Teacher of the Year" in 1996
and 2000 and "Arizona Agriculture Teachers Association
State Teacher of the Year" in 1996.
