I believe that to the very best of my ability, it
is my purpose to develop a keenness of mind and a kindness
of heart in each child. Every child is my child. There are
no losers. I believe that children learn best through relevant
experiences that develop their interest and abilities, take
advantage of their natural curiosity and allow for more
than one correct response. My challenge is to provide the
best possible environment for learning one in which
experiences are powerful enough, thinking is reflective
and analytical not just reactive, actions/movement are used
to enhance learning and emotions open the door to learning
and performance.
Knowing that young minds and young hearts are immediately
and lastingly affected by my actions in the classroom is
a heavy but exhilarating responsibility. The rewards (of
teaching) come quietly in the smile of a painfully shy child
or more openly in the compliments of a colleague or administrator.
My rewards are twenty-four little people who call me teacher
and feel safe, secure and happy in my classroom. My rewards
are wildflowers picked on the way to school, I love
you notes tucked into my purse and Butterfingers bars
left on my desk. My reward is seeing that keenness of mind
and kindness of heart take wing and soar within my students.
An Abia Judd parent shares, Its every parents
dream to have their child experience Jane Robertsons
classroom. The head start (my children) received under her
direction has set the stage for the passion they have for
excelling in their studies. By incorporating music into
her daily schedule, my children not only walked away from
her classroom excelling in reading and math skills but they
also developed exceptional music appreciation. She is nurturing,
but also has every childs respect and attention as
soon as school begins. Jane Robertson is truly a committed
professional in her chosen field.
Mrs. Robertson graduated from Arizona State University with
a Bachelor of Arts in Education as well as a Master of Arts
in Education. She has been a teacher for 21 years.
