The classroom is the ultimate opportunity to effect
positive change in the lives of adolescents
.I know without
a doubt that to be an educator is the finest service opportunity
in the world and educating adolescents is synonymous with
changing the world for the better. Kevins commitment
to the students he teaches is evidenced by examples that highlight
contributions he has made to the success of students as individuals
and of students as groups that learn collaboration, support
and the value of shared success. As a teacher, Kevin has created
his own personal mission statement which serves as a focal
point of what he hopes to be: I create a positive, challenging
environment in which to learn. I am dedicated to the needs
of my students. I adjust and adapt my structure to best serve
young people. I share my experience and wisdom in a trusting
classroom atmosphere and provide students with the opportunity
for positive experiences. I am a motivator, challenger and
disseminator of knowledge. Kevin first creates a relationship
with his students; teaching and learning follow. His teaching
style is based on experiential learning: We do not learn
by watching. We do not learn by listening. We learn by doing.
Kevin earned his Bachelors degree in Psychology with
a minor in Chemistry from Utah State University and is currently
working on his Masters in School Counseling through
NAU.
